[My home visitor] asks me when I want to see her, when we should meet, and she’s super flexible with her time. She understands that sometimes my schedule is a bit crazy. So, to me, I like that even if I don’t see her I can send her a message.

We talk about different themes and topics I have on my mind. Each visit we talk about something different and personally, I like having a visual reference after our meeting. One of them for me was when my son became a big brother. This transition was very difficult.

To listen to [my home visitor], was a moment of relaxation. You see, step by step that made me feel safe too. She helped me so much and because of this I looked for help elsewhere, too.

I believe this experience has left me to learn to handle these phases of life. It’s a very good experience to know that she’s someone supporting and guiding you.

From our Home Visitor

I worked with a mom who, when she first enrolled, was pregnant and working overnight 12-hour shifts, five days a week. She told me how hard it was to manage those hours while also caring for her family, and she shared that her goal was to find a job with more regular daytime hours.

Together, we made that one of her priorities, and I supported her by connecting her with local job fairs and employment resources. Through one of those opportunities, she was able to find a new job closer to home with regular 9-to-5 hours.

Now, she tells me it’s much easier to balance work and family life, especially with her new baby. Seeing how happy and relieved she is reminds me why this work matters.
